SHEPPARTON EDUCATION PLAN - UPDATE FOR SCHOOL COMMUNITIES
Preparations for 2020 are ongoing. Transition visits for 2020 Year 9 indigenous students took place last Wednesday and further visits for the entire 2020 Year 9 cohort are planned.
Year 8 students at the four schools will be selecting their elective subjects on Friday the 25th of October at their own school. There will be no Year 8 classes on that day as all students will be accompanying their parents/guardians to an interview at school to finalise their elective choices. Interview times can be made on the Compass Portal. As soon as all student choices are entered we can begin the process of deciding which classes will run and allocate students their classes. This will then allow parents/guardians to complete the Booklist once it has been compiled and distributed.
Year 10 students at MSC in 2020 (our current Year 9’s) will also be selecting their subjects on Friday the 25th of October as they will be in the elective blocks with the Year 9 students.
Much of my time recently has been taken up with planning for 2020 and that is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. I am making every effort to spend as much time at MSC as I can.
SCHOOL EVENTS
Last Thursday I attended the annual Cabaret night, and once again I was very impressed by the calibre of our music students. The night was well attended and showcased the talents of MSC students as well as the Primary schools associated with MSC.
YEAR 12
This week the class of 2019 will complete their Secondary Education. Completing 13 years of Education is something that all of the Class of 2019 can be very proud of. This week they will be farewelled by our senior students on Tuesday, meet for breakfast on Wednesday morning with all of their teachers and will be farewelled at an assembly with their parents at 9.00am on Wednesday. This will be followed by a morning tea with parents and teachers before leaving to begin their study program in preparation for their exams. The Valedictory Dinner will be held in November at the completion of the examination period. We wish them luck with their exams and hope that the future that lies ahead will see them have a happy and fulfilling life.
I am very much looking forward to seeing the Greater Shepparton College (interim name) production of ’13 - The Musical’.
The very enthusiastic Year 7's from across McGuire, Mooroopna, Shepparton and Wanganui Campuses have teamed with experienced VCE Theatre Studies students, to interpret Jason Robert Brown’s touching and hilarious rock musical, ‘13’
Two shows only: Thursday October 31st 7:30 pm or Friday 1st November, 7:30pm at Westside Performing Arts Centre.
