DAY MASS
On Wednesday last week the Kildare community gathered to celebrate Mass in recognition of our Catholic educational founders. These inspirational people were faithful disciples of Jesus who responded to the needs of their times, providing schooling for the poor and disadvantaged. Their legacy to Catholic schooling continues to this day.
Our Eucharist was beautifully led by Monsignor Doug George, Parish Priest at Coolamon. His homily focused first on four people; Jesus Christ, St Paul, Nano Nagle and Edmund Rice. Lastly we were challenged to think about our own call to contribute as missionary disciples in our College and the world today. Year Nine students, who were writing a homily as an assessment task in RE, would have especially benefited from Fr Doug’s insights!
We thank guests Aunty Mary Atkinson and Rosemary Clark from Catholic Schools Office for their support and Fr Anto Francis who helped with Mass preparations. Some of Kildare’s Aboriginal students gave the Acknowledgement of Country and small but talented group of musicians led our singing under the direction of Mel Cotterill. The SRC representatives and other Kildare students fulfilled their liturgical roles admirably. At lunch the College community enjoyed a shared barbeque provided by our dedicated staff.
