Wow Week

We begin each term with our Week of Wonder (WOW)

Each term we have a different focus to enrich our student’s development of Social and Emotional Learning.

This term we began by wondering …”How Can I Be A Good Friend?”

Throughout primary school, students are developing their friendship skills.  Like everything, we all develop these skills at different rates and depending on our own experiences of friends.  Learning how to socialise and live harmoniously in society is very important and it requires us to develop understandings of concepts such as empathy, tolerance, difference, acceptance and resilience.

Throughout the term we will continue to explore these concepts.

Parents can help develop these important skills by modelling or talking to their children about their own friendships.  By discussing tolerance and accepting of differences and helping children to share, take turns and speak nicely to and about others.

Attached are some tip sheets for parents in understanding the development of friendships.

I hope your children enjoyed WOW week last week.
