SLR SNOW TRIP
The drought is causing a lot of heartache and trouble for our farmers and associated industries at the moment. The lack of rain state wide, for some reason, has not affected the snow falls in the Snowy Mountains.
Recently, 54 students from our Year 9 PASS classes and Year 11 SLR classes travelled to Mt Selwyn for a day spent enjoying the superb snow conditions. We were greeted by fantastic weather and wonderful skiing conditions. Our beginners, including Mr Holbrook, had a fantastic day learning the basics with all students developing their skills throughout the day. Our more advanced skiers and boarders were able to build upon their skills and improved as the day progressed. All students took part in a 2 hour lesson and then were able to ski together to practice their newly acquired skills. Snowball fights were also a fun part of the day.
I would like to thank all students who attended for their most positive attitude which helped to make the day so successful. Mrs Cooper, Mrs Murphy (gun skier), Mr Conn, Mr Honeysett and Mr Holbrook all were willing to be at the bus for the 4.30am start, returning home around 9.00pm. A long day but most enjoyable,…. And no, teachers don’t get paid overtime for taking excursions away!! (as one student thought was the case).
Apart from being a great experience for our students, this trip provides students with the opportunity to experience the alpine winter areas and learn new skills that they otherwise may never get the chance to experiences.
Yours in carving.
