A message from the STJPA
SCHOOL WELCOME DISCO
Our school ‘Under the Sea’ welcome disco was a roaring success with 120 families attending and enjoying the wonderful weather. What a turn out! This night is a huge part of the positive culture at St James, as we mingle with existing friends, and welcome new families to our school. The costumes were wonderful and a testament to you all! We would like to send a big shout out to Michelle Thomas and Sarah Webb for their epic organisation of the night, as well as the parents who assisted with set up and pack down. What a great start to our year!
PANCAKE DAY
Last week, our children once again received yummy pancakes to commemorate Shrove Tuesday. Lead by Tanya Schiffter and a team of parents from each year level, our children poured, stirred, cooked and ate delicious pancakes with a variety of toppings. Thank you to all who helped on this day.
Community consultation - suggestions for fundraising
This week we will be asking our community to share their ideas for the focus of our fundraising efforts this year via a Google Form that will be sent out via email. These ideas will then be forwarded to school leadership who, together with the PA will develop a list of needs and wants. School leadership ultimately has an intimate understanding of what is needed and will benefit our children and their learning, but want to work with parents to develop a plan for spending moving forward.
EASTER RAFFLE & HOT CROSS BUN DRIVE

MAIN EVENT 2020 - urgent call for volunteers
We are turning our minds to planning our ‘main event’ for 2020 - our major fundraiser. At this stage we do not have any volunteers to coordinate this event, and are now in desperate need of people who can. This event has historically provided 80% of the funds raised for our school in previous years. It is the key way that we come together as a parent community to raise money for our children and our school, and also to develop a sense of solidarity and community spirit. This event has taken on various forms, being held at the Deck in Brighton and last year, at the Brighton Town Hall. We know that everyone is busy, but are urging our community to consider putting yourself forward to help organise this event. If we do not have a team organised within the next week, we will struggle to make this a reality. We don’t want to have to use alternatives such as a fundraiser levy, and so implore you to talk to your friends and come forward as a team to assist. We need anyone who is willing to assist to attend our next meeting on March 18. In the past it has always been a great and fun night out and those who team together to coordinate this event for 2020, should feel confident that you will have the full support and assistance of the PA team. Let’s work together to once again deliver a fantastic event for us all!
Thankyou
Please always feel free to contact us if you have any questions or ideas!
