House Swimming Carnival 2022

On Friday 25 February BNPS headed off to GESAC for our annual swim meet with all our Year 4, 5 and 6 students and teachers.

It was an overcast 20 degree day with excitement and nerves abuzz around the pool. Every student participated in as many events as they liked as well as a fun 'over and under the lane ropes' relay at the end. We had many students swimming in over 3 events each.

There was cheering and encouragement from each House especially MCDONALD HOUSE who were the leading House in their chanting receiving the HOUSE SPIRIT AWARD for the second year in a row.

The staff vs House Captains race started off slowly for the staff with Mr Marashli (aka Captain Underpants) losing his big pillow stomach half way down the pool to put the staff half a length behind. Luckily we had Mr Rounsley , Mrs Hall and Mr Farmer to swim fast and catch the Year 6 McDonald  team and touch the wall just in front.

Fortunately the staff regained the crown as the LEANEST, FASTEST SWIMMERS and CHAMPIONS of the pool for 2022.

The overall results on the day were:

1st WOOD                 327  POINTS

2nd RESERVE           301  POINTS

3rd MCDONALD     257  POINTS

4th MOREY               209  POINTS

Thanks to all the staff who helped make the carnival such a great day😊

Summer Sport

This term we have begun our Summer Interschool rounds against 7 other schools in our district. Some of our House Captains and team captains for each of the sports have given a small summary of their experience playing as a team in the reports below:

Volleyball

March 4 - What a day we had on Friday with both teams winning against Brighton Beach Primary School. The open team won 2 out of the 2 sets as well as the girls. It was such a fun 2 hours working as a team. We all supported each other and played our best!

Oz Tag

The bus ride had finished, we were about to play against a team that was apparently undefeated for 7 years (which I don’t really believe) I got into my position, I was on the right wing, as soon as Fletcher got the ball I called for it, he passed to me, I ran up the field for a bit. I had just realised I was about to get tagged, so I passed the ball to Liam who had a clear gap in front of him, running in for the tri and putting us up 1-0, we ended up winning 6-3, and ruining their so-called 7 year winning streak.

Basketball

The past few weeks we have been at school doing interschool sports, the basketball teams have been doing extremely well. Both boys and girls have won all their games. The last game we played, the boys smashed the other team and the girls had to verse each other, because Brighton Beach doesn’t have a girls' team so far.

So far, we have versed Black Rock, Sandringham and Brighton Beach. We have won every game, both boys and girls, and we hope our winning streak continues. We are versing Beauy next week.

Hot Shots Tennis

Wow! On Friday’s these last couple of weeks have been a busy day for the tennis players of Years 5 & 6.

We played Black Rock Primary School on the 1st week (February 11)

We  played Sandringham Primary School on the 2nd week (February 18)

On the 3rd week (February 25) we were not able to play due to the swimming carnival that was a very fun sporting event.

As well as this week which was a bye (meaning the other school didn’t have a team to play against us).

So, we had a fun game against a certain person in our team.

That was tennis the last few weeks.
