Assessment & Reporting

Our first reporting cycle for our SEA Assessment is being reported on by staff.  This assessment looks at: 

Personal Learning Growth 

– Student demonstrates growth in their own personal learning levels

Completion of Learning Tasks 

– Student completes set learning tasks 

Attitude to Learning

– Student demonstrates commitment to and engagement in their learning

Managing Personal Learning 

– Student manages their personal learning needs

 

Students will receive an overall score between 0 and 4.  Student who receive a score of 2.5 and above are meeting all classroom learning expectations, students above 3.5 are going beyond expected learning expectations. These will be released to families on Compass on Tuesday 15th March.

eWrite

A huge thank you to our families that encouraged students to bring their laptops for their eWrite assessment.  This assessment looks at a range of areas within writing; including the students ability to punctuate, spell, orientate the reader, use a range of vocabulary and how they structure sentences.  This information supports our English teachers to set individual learning goals with students.

Naplan

This year NAPLAN will be completed on line by all Australian Schools.  This will mean that we will receive student results more quickly and that the test can be delivered adaptively. This means that the questions students are asked will vary depending on how students are performing in the test which will provide more specific feedback on how each student is performing against the standards.

 

Important Dates for NAPLAN:

It is vital that all students bring their laptop to school every day fully charged.  Please note these important dates to assist your child to remember:

24th March – Year 7 & 9 to participate in an Australian wide writing practice test at 11:40 am. This will support students to feel more comfortable with how to complete the assessment as they are more familiar with the types of questions/prompts they will be required to answer.

Tuesday 10th May – NAPLAN Reading assessment at 9:10am.

Wednesday 11th May – NAPLAN Writing assessment at 9:10am.

Thursday 12th May – Catch up writing sessions for students who were away (all day)

Friday 13th May – NAPLAN Language conventions at 9:10am.

Monday 16th May – NAPLAN Numeracy a 9:10am.

Tuesday 17th May – Catch up reading sessions for students who were away (all day)

Wednesday 18th May - Catch up sessions for Language Conventions (all day)

Thursday 19th May - Catch up sessions for Numeracy (all day)

Students will be supported in these sessions with their normal classroom teacher so that they are with someone well known to them.

Parent Student Teacher Conferences

Please note the change of dates and format:

Thursday 31st March – will now be on TEAMS 4-6pm

Tuesday 5th April – will now be on site at GSSC 4-6pm
