ART News!

This term in Art we have been getting to know the art class room space and exploring different mediums. Our foundation/prep classes have learnt about the colour wheel and warm and cool colours and created temporary insect art pieces using found materials. Their next art pieces will have a focus on insects and bugs and will comprise of drawing, inking and sculpture.

Grade 1/2 students have created woven place mats to go under their creative food plates, drawn portrait sketches and have sewn beautiful pieces on matting. These are displayed up near the office for all to see.

Students have learnt how to sew a basic running stitch and how to apply a button to woven fabric. They were super proud of their achievements and can’t wait to bring them home to show you.

Our middle school students have created imaginary bird house collages using a variety of materials, while beginning their soft toy constructions. They have experimented with print making techniques and explored the use of different adhesives.

Our senior school students have illustrated imaginary Chimeras, looking at combining multiple animals/people/things into one creation. They have used pencils, fine liners, water colour pencils and markers to produce these creations.

Using a dotting pattern, students have painted images using the pointillism technique, looking at colour and composition in their art works. Grade 5/6 students are now in the process of designing and creating a soft toy, using felt and fibre fill. They will choose to sew either using a running or hemming stitch and each artwork will be kept for a future display.

Keep up the great work.
