Progressive Assessment Tests (PAT)

Throughout this week and next week, students in Years 2- 6 will participate in PAT Reading, Mathematics and Writing assessments. These online assessments measure a student’s knowledge, skills and understanding and help pinpoint where they are in their learning journey – and what they need to progress.

At St Joseph's, teachers regularly assess students and will also use the PAT assessment data to identify each student's learning point, inform their teaching practice, target their teaching, implement interventions or extend students, and monitor their growth.

PAT is usually administered in Term 4 each year but with remote learning in 2021, it was not feasible. Instead, the decision was taken that students would complete the tests in Term 1 2022. PATs will continue to be administered in Term 4 of this year.

2022 Premier's Reading Challenge

This year we invite all students from K-6 to participate in the 2022 Premier's Reading Challenge.

The challenge is not a competition but a way to foster a love of reading for pleasure for all our Kindergarten to Year 6 students.

The challenge opens on Monday 28 February and closes on Friday 19 August. Parents of students who wish to take on the challenge should register by clicking the consent button in COMPASS.  As soon as possible a username and password to access the PRC website will be provided by the school.  This website will allow parents and students to find books and codes and to also self manage the online reading log.

For more information please visit the links below and/or contact Mr Aguilera via the school office for more information.

If you wish for your child/dren to participate please complete the online consent through the COMPASS Parent Portal.
