Our Catholic Identity

The Season of Lent

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Church Season of Lent. Students will attend a liturgy to receive ashes on Wednesday 2 March.

Lent - Project Compassion

Ash Wednesday also marks the beginning of the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Donations to Project Compassion allow Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to alleviate poverty, hunger, oppression and injustice.

We encourage you to put your compassion into action this Lent through your prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion. Each class will receive a Project Compassion box during Stage Ash Wednesday Liturgies and students are encouraged to give generously to help others in need.

The theme of Project Compassion 2022 is ‘For All Future Generations’ and reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come.

As important as the fundraising is, the education of students in Catholic social teaching and outreach, as Jesus did to those who are marginalised and poor, is fundamental to their learning as Catholics.

The School Captains and Vice Captains will attend an online launch of this year's Project Compassion appeal with Mrs Charadia.
