Principal's Message

Thank you to all parents who attended the St Joseph's Parents and Friends Association Annual General Meeting last night. I thank the outgoing P & F executive members and other committee members for their significant contribution and dedication to the school in the past. Congratulations to the 2022 P & F executive, I look forward to working with you into the future for the benefit of our students and their learning.

St Joseph's take pride!

It really is a pleasure to see the children take such pride in their uniforms. This is a strong statement about what it means to be a St Joseph’s student. I particularly thank you as parents and carers for ensuring your child/ren are appropriately dressed in the correct full school uniform each morning.  I appreciate your support in choosing the correct predominantly white sports shoes with white laces for PE and sport.

Principal's Awards are presented on a fortnightly.  for presentation at Assembly

Principal's Medallions are awarded on attaining four Principal’s awards. The four Principal's Awards need to be forwarded to the school office.

End of Term Awards are presented to nominated students from each class. These awards may be included as one of the 5 awards to gain a Principal's Award. The end of term awards are:

  • Academic Achievement - for an outstanding learning gain in a nominated Key Learning Area
  • Mary MacKillop Award - for an outstanding display of Catholic values
  • Habits of Mind Award - for outstanding use of the habits of mind for learning.

In addition class teachers also use class rewards systems to encourage expected behaviours, acknowledge effort in learning or for the care and support of others.

PB4L

Throughout the term, students are constantly learning about St Joseph's expectations to encourage positive behaviours for learning.

Our school wide expectations are explicitly taught in class. The school also has a weekly focus which is always in the newsletter so parents can remind their children too.

PB4L provides a consistent approach to student behaviour and ensure students know how to behave positively and be respectful, responsible and safe for learning in the whole school environment.

In next week's newsletter, the Classroom Redirection Sequences will be highlighted in the newsletter.

Can I pick up my child early from school?

It is a legal requirement for children to be at school, every day, and for the full school day. Every day at school is important in a child's learning.

While many out-of-school activities seem important they should not occur during school hours. This includes swimming, dance or music lessons. Under some circumstances, approval may be given by the principal.

A regular appointment with health care professionals such as Speech Pathologists or Occupational Therapists during school hours should be discussed with the Principal.

COVID Changes to restrictions and School routines

Tomorrow parents will receive further information outlining changes to school routines and restrictions relevant to St Joseph's.

Congratulations Kindergarten on a great start to school.

For all things at St Joseph's, give thanks!
