Victorian High Ability Program
High Ability News
This term we have had a number of our students involved in the Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP) as well as the Emerging Sciences. Below are their accounts as to what these exciting programs have offered them.
VHAP
It has been really an enjoyable time being in VHAP. I have been learning concepts way beyond the current syllabus. In VHAP we have learnt many concepts such as the Fibonacci numbers, irrational numbers, imaginary numbers (they do exist). These concepts aren’t about the limiting mathematics that the school syllabus teaches, it is about how things in the real world work. It is simply amazing how nature works, how numbers work, how everything works. It has been a great opportunity to be in VHAP, and I very highly recommend it.

Emerging Sciences
Emerging science has genuinely been an amazing experience. The course that I chose to take was Neuroscience and I’m blown away at how much there is to learn. Every week it seems that I’m learning about a new type of neuron that allows my body to function the way it does and it’s all taught in such an engaging way. The teachers manage to keep the lessons fun but also informative, and I have been given so many opportunities to work together with students from other schools that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.
