Senior School Report

Senior School News

‘The art of surviving and thriving in Year 12 lies in the balance of work and play, pursuing physical as well as mental wellbeing and nurturing the inner self.’ Dr Michael Carr-Gregg

I am sure we can all agree that despite being an extremely productive, busy and positive term, it has felt long and tiring for many…One that could even be metaphorically referred to as the ‘Corona Coaster!’

We encourage all staff, students, and families to rest, re-energise, reflect and re-focus over the holiday break and focus on your health.
Thank you for your ongoing support and hard work. You are all valued and appreciated! Senior Team J

ATTENTION ALL Year 10-12 students doing a VCE subject - Be sure to register for these free live-streamed ATAR VCE online lectures this April 2022. You can register for your subjects at https://atarnoteslectures.com/vic.

The lectures are running from 11 April – 14 April 2022 and are completely free to register for and attend. The lecture sessions are live-streamed but registering for your subjects also provides access to a recording of the session after the lecture series. Can also access free notes.

There are lecture sessions available for Year 10-12 subjects, plus a range of other sessions. This is a great opportunity to get ahead before the new term.

IMPACT Sessions, making an IMPACT

Reflect and revisit the advice from our TERM 1 IMPACT sessions involving goal setting, creating good routines - ‘forming the habit’ (eating your Kale), setting up study schedules, creating master folders and tips for self-regulation (getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, being active, talking to others, managing stress and prioritising your time). During this holiday break, is now the time to reflect on your SAC score and recent progress reports (found on Compass). Revise over all key concepts and skills for all subjects. Create concept maps (with buzz /trigger words) and complete past practice exams from VCAA website, make a scrapbook of sample and past exam questions, add your answers, add model / suggested answers (underlining buzz /trigger words and connective words). Re-read subject text chapters, revise over EDROLO videos / notes for areas that need improving on your SAC performance descriptors.

What’s ahead in IMPACT during Term 2 – Academic coaching, tutoring, understanding how the VCE works (SAC scores and moderation), Careers and Pathway information and continuing to build Respectful Relationships.

‘Fair Go Sports’ Athletics Day The ‘Fair, Go, Athletic Sports’ are always such a great event, allowing our whole school community to come together and participate in sport in a positive and inclusive way, with a bit of friendly team competition and LOTS of colour!

Here are some snaps of our Senior Students joining in on the fun.

Senior sporting STARS for Term 1:

Allysha Florrimell (VCAL) and Ty D’Ath (VCE). They both won an array of ribbons on the day, but more importantly, displayed fairness and demonstrated excellent community spirit, being positive role models for others. Well done and best of the luck in the next round of events to all our senior athletes.
