City Nature Challenge

Darebin Council has joined the City Nature Challenge- so can you!

Over four days, from 29 April to 2 May, cities all over the world will see which city can gather the most (or most interesting) observations of nature using the iNaturalist App.

Data collected during the challenge will help the global scientific community better understand biodiversity in urban spaces all over the world and how we can better protect it. Joining in is easy and it’s a fantastic chance to explore and learn more about the amazing lands and waters of WurundjeriWoi-wurrung Country and show them to the world.

1. Download the iNaturalist app on your phone and create and account

2. Explore Darebin! Parks, reserves, creeks and nature strips... your own garden too!

3. Take a photo of what you find. Be sure to include the location!

4. Upload your observations to iNaturalist

5. Track the results to see how Darebin is going against other cities and councils. Find out more and join the challenge on our website: darebin.vic.gov.au/CityNatureChallenge
