Leadership

The year has begun in full thrust, with information nights, leadership training days, Inaugural Mass and upcoming camps and retreats. The senior students have begun their journey with dedication and perseverance. Two years of COVID has not defeated the Mazenod spirit nor academic commitment and for this I congratulate the students.

At the beginning of every year the school provides opportunities for students to engage in leadership roles. Every year level has an SRC and Social Justice representative. The concept for Social Justice Captains is to engage students in the teachings of Jesus Christ and love in our communities, by acknowledging the human dignity of all people and working for the common good for all. This year we are fortunate to include Mr Tony Coghlan as part of the team of educators, that will link Mazenod College with all the Oblate schools in Australia. Tony will work with not only our students but coordinate initiatives across all four Oblate schools, giving life to the mission and charism of the Oblates.

It is with great pleasure that I introduce the community to Senior leaders for 2022. All young men must be congratulated for volunteering to sacrifice their time for the good of our school and the wider community.

 2022 SENIOR EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM

COLLEGE CAPTAIN: Nathanial Louey

VICE CAPTAINS: Jacob Luu, Noah Beck, Daniel Grano

HEAD PREFECTS: Jason Fernandes, Ashen Perera

The SRC and Social Justice Captains for 2022 are currently being organised and announcements will be made during the week in homeroom. We will celebrate and recognise those students during our first Senior School assembly.

On Monday the Senior School students participated in a leadership training day that was delivered by a team of young people who all held leadership positions in 2021. I would like to formally thank the following:  Anthony Yong (Mazenod College Captain 2021), Julia Grubuic (Avila College Captain 2021), Mia Go (Avila College Captain 2021), Kyle Troung (Mazenod College Prefect 2020) and Anthony Vas ( Mazenod College Vice-Captain 2021). These young people collaborated and designed a dynamic and relevant program that engaged all participants and for this I am truly grateful.

Senior school life continues at the College with planning and preparation for Mission Action Day, Year 10 outdoor Education and the Year 12 retreat.  Students from Year 10 are preparing to embark on their surf camps, driver education and pastoral care activities. Whilst the Year 12 men will consider faith and manhood. Students have settled into work habits and are quickly realising that academics need to be a priority. Career development will be an important feature and I encourage parents to regularly discuss pathways and commitment to learning with their sons. Our young men are precious, and as parents, I understand that we want them to be happy, healthy and find their place in the world.
