MUSIC NEWS – 31 OCTOBER 2013
Great things are happening in the Music Department at the moment. VCE and AMEB performance exams have started and students have prepared well for these. Well done to all students undertaking these exams. Students who are yet to complete their performance exams are reminded to keep practicing each and every day.
Wednesday, 23 October 2013 the Year 11 Music Performance Night was held in the Music Auditorium. The evening proved to be an amazing showcase of the work that the current Year 11 students have completed through the year. Thank you to Mr Kurowski and his students for the work that they completed to make this evening fantastic. Thank you also to all those parents and friends who attended this great night’s entertainment.
PLEASE NOTE:
The Music Information Forms for 2014 need to be completed either online and were due Wednesday 30 October. Thank you for your support in this area. It is vitally important that students complete this task if they wish to continue with instrumental music next year. Any queries regarding this information form should be directed to the Music Centre.
DATES TO REMEMBER:
- The Year 10 Music Performance Night is at 7:30pm on Tuesday 12 November in the Lecture Theatre. The students from the Year 10 Performance class would love to see as many friends and family there as possible. It should be a great celebration of the years work by this class.
- The Junior Concert will be held at 7:00pm on Friday 6 December in the School Hall. We are looking forward to celebrating the end of the music calendar with all staff, students and parents on this evening. With the busy social season fast approaching, we ask all performing students to keep this evening free to help celebrate the end of the year.

Some other mature performances included Alexandra Samulenok's Something's Got A Hold On Me and the terrifically entertaining Morgan Dooley-Axup singing The Alto's Lament. A number of students accompanied themselves and others (Emily Holding, Cailyn Twelftree, Michael Aguilera and David Yarrow.
A first for Vocal Night: Misha Machlak accompanied Paulina Vayenas on the violin as she sang a famous Spanish folksong - La Paloma.
Thank you to Nick Xanthoudakis for his tireless work on sound and lighting, Andrew Krause for his photography, Ms Papworth and Ms Kirk for their terrific work backstage and the World Challenge Team headed by Mr Quinn and Ms Dickson for organizing supper.
