Somers Camp

Somers Camp

Somers School Camp was the first and probably the best camp I have ever been to. It was so much fun and the best activities were the flying fox, challenge swing and abseiling. The other activities were fun but not as challenging or as fun as these ones. Everything at Somers School Camp was challenging and new and when I faced my fears, I overcame the challenges and made it through 9 days. I have learnt many new things at this camp and one of these things is being social and making more and more friends. Everything was great and if you were there, you would agree with me.

My Somers Camp Journey

by Cedar

My Somers camp adventure started when I first stepped foot on the bus with a group of my really good friends and a whole bunch of other kids from schools that I didn’t know.

Little did I know the best part of this journey was making great friendships with all different people.

Somers camp gave me the opportunity to become more independent, able to build friendships and to easily participate in entertaining activities, such as; The Bush Dance, Disco, Campfire, Tabloid Sports and many more.

I felt very pleased, lucky and appreciated to be accepted into this incredible camp. I tackled activities like, surfing, archery and biking with enthusiasm. I conquered my fears by doing the high ropes course, boating and abseiling. Every single one of these activities made me braver and stronger as a person.

During my time at Somers camp we learnt about sustainability, animals’ habitats and lives and taking care of the environment.

Every morning we would wake up at 7:00am and take care out of our hut/cabin for the hut cleaning competition.

On different days you become a table host, you are able to eat first and set up all the tables for all the children coming to eat the sensational food. YUM!

Dear Future Campers,

At first you may feel a little bit homesick but after a couple days in you will have many amusing times with all your encouraging friends to feel unhappy, so step out of your comfort zone and try something different when your chance comes!
