School Dress Code Policy

Greenvale Primary School has a Student Dress Code policy that has been ratified and accepted by School Council. Expectations are that parents support this policy and ensure their child/children adhere to the appropriate uniform and personal presentation, and that students wear their uniform with pride.

The aim of the policy is to:

  1. To promote equality amongst all students.
  2. To further develop a sense of pride in and identification with our school.
  3. To provide a school uniform that is practical, comfortable, attractive and affordable.
  4. To maintain and enhance the positive image of the school in the community.

Can I please make all parents and students aware of the following that is also included in the policy:

  • Stud earrings and small sleepers worn only in the ears, plus watches are the only acceptable jewellery.  Tattoos are not permitted.
  • Extreme hair colours (eg: green, pink or purple) and/or extreme hairstyles (eg. patches of colour, or Mohawks) are not permitted.
  • Other than clear nail polish, cosmetics may not be worn at school.
  • Footwear should consist of black shoes, boots, sandals with toe area covered or runners, black or white with black or white laces. No bright colours.

You may find a copy of the Student Dress Code Policy on our website.

Great Effort!

Sanchiv from 3SC decided he wanted to help raise money for the Cancer Foundation to support kid’s cancer research. He sought permission from the Cancer Council and was given the go ahead. So, with the help of his grandmother he grew lots of plants in pots which, when ready, Sanchiv would sell to the community.

Last Sunday, Sanchiv set up his plant stall in Destination Park in Greenvale. He had many supporters including some of his classmates and his teacher. He called his fund raising project ‘Hold Our Little Fingers”.Sanchiv sold all but a handful of the plants and raised an amazing amount of $750!!

Congratulations Sanchiv! That is a really great effort.

Drive Safely

We are all aware that the streets surrounding the school are really busy at drop off and pick up times.

This is a time for each of us to show patience, respect and consideration for others on the road. By demonstrating these, you are also modelling positive behaviours to your child/children.

It is really disappointing when I receive a phone call from a local resident complaining about a parent driving dangerously on the roads around our school or showing lack of consideration to others. Everyone is in the same situation in trying to get their child to school.

Be patient! Be respectful! Be considerate!

COVID Restrictions Update

Thank you to all the visitors to our school this term who helped us keep our students safe by abiding to the COVID management requests.

Below are some details from the latest Department of Education and Training (DET) School Operations Guide released 30 March………

                                                  Visitors to School Premises

  1. Visitors to school grounds must comply with physical distancing and face mask recommendations set out in this Operations Guide, and practise good hand hygiene.
  2. There is no requirement to limit the number or type of visitors to school premises, however, there is a density limit of 1 person per 2 square metres which applies to any spaces and activities being attended by parent/carers and other visitors. The density limit applies to all persons in the space, including students.
  3. To support contact tracing, schools must keep a record of all staff, students and visitors who attend on-site for more than 15 minutes. Schools must record the name, contact details, date, and time of attendance at school, as well as the areas of the school that the person attended. Schools can use existing mechanisms such as visitor sign-in procedures, student attendance records and staffing rosters to record this information or utilise the Department’s QR Code platform.

There has been little change to DET’s directives so the following points remain in place until further notice:

  • Parents may enter the school grounds during drop off and pick up times. It is not compulsory to do so. Your children have clearly shown their capacity to be independent and walk to their classroom on their own.
  • To support contact tracing, parents are asked to leave the school grounds within 15 minutes unless they have signed in at the office and have a reason to stay longer than 15 minutes.
  • Parents must practise physical distancing 1.5m between themselves and others to the extent that is reasonably practicable.
  • Parents are requested not to wait in the areas in between portables as these walkways become so congested children are not able to walk out of their classrooms without struggling to walk through parents.
  • Face masks are strongly recommended for use when physical distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.
  • Parents will not be able to enter the classrooms. If you need to communicate with your child’s teacher please do so using email or a phone call.
  • If you require a face to face meeting, please arrange a time that is convenient to both yourself and the teacher to meet.
  • Students are requested to come to school from 8:45am onwards. There will not be any supervision in the playground until 8:45am.
  • Foundation students will still be dismissed from the Foundation Courtyard. Parents are requested to wait on the synthi-grass assembly area.

Thank you to everyone for a fabulous Term 1. For the families who celebrate Easter, have a Happy Easter with your family. Enjoy the holiday break and we will see all students return safely for Term 2 on Monday 19 April.
