Congratulations Sr. Brigid Arthur

As mentioned in the editorial, we congratulate our Trustee, Sr. Brigid Arthur, on receiving one of the Pro Bono Impact 25 Awards for 2021. From 400 nominations, to a shortlist of 150, this year’s Impact 25 winners have been picked for their innovation, influence, and collaboration following one of the toughest years of our times. Impact 25 winners spend their days advocating on the issues of the time, usually working over years and even decades to generate positive social change and support communities of interest. These awards acknowledge these extraordinary people as they take action in their communities and influence the lives of those around them.

Sister Brigid is a project coordinator of one of our ministries, the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP). BASP provides practical support to asylum seekers through such initiatives as the provision of housing and employment. Sr. Brigid is a former long term board member of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and litigation guardian for many vulnerable asylum seekers who need a representative in several Federal Court matters which has allowed them to obtain critical and urgent medical care in Australia.
