Student Services : Careers

Term one has been incredibly busy, but I think I will now forever appreciate the privilege of working face to face with students. Schools are vibrant places, and it has been terrific to have a sense of normality for almost a whole term.

Year 10 work experience 2021

We understand that this year it is particularly challenging to secure a work placement, as many businesses are still rebuilding and working on returning to offices.  I would like to congratulate all the year 10s, and their families, who have been working hard on this task in term one.  We are aware that many students may not be able to secure a placement – and we are working on an alternative virtual program for those students.  We have extended the deadline for paperwork to give students some more time to try to arrange a placement.

Over the holidays, Year 10 students who have not yet found a work experience placement for May should do their utmost to secure a place.  All the information, instructions and forms are on myNorthcoteHigh > Careers >Work Experience. Students have received instructions in Connect, and there is a checklist on myNorthcoteHigh that they can use.  Although our initial deadline for work experience forms is the end of this term, we will still be accepting paperwork until 30 April for the May placement.

Year 9 Morrisby Program 2021

Year 9 students completed their Morrisby assessment on Monday morning.  Most students finished their assessment within the allotted time, but any students who need to finish a module can login from home and do so.  Students who did not return their signed permission were unable to participate in the assessment.  If your child was absent on Monday, and a permission form has been received, the YLPLs can provide information on how to complete the assessment at home.

Year 12 : University tours and events

A number of universities are holding on campus tours and events for prospective students over the holidays.  You might want to check out university web pages for further information on opportunities to research campuses and courses over the break.  2022 is just around the corner!

ANU Applications for 2022 Entry

A reminder that current domestic Year 12 students who intend applying directly to ANU for undergraduate study in 2022 are advised that ANU will now make offers based on Year 11 results on 9 August 2021, and these will be honoured for study in 2022 as long as students have completed Year 12 and achieved an ATAR.

Should the Year 11 results not meet entry requirements, selection officers will automatically consider Year 12 results in the December offer round.

Students will need to meet the co-curricular or service requirement and ANU has adjusted its requirements due to the disruptions of COVID-19.

Applications are now open and will close on 24 May 2021.  Students are advised to read through Application Information before applying at ANU Applications for 2022.
