Congratulations to the Library Bookmark Design winners for 2021!

The six winning entries for our annual competition have now been chosen. The judging panel of Ms Harrap, Ms Scott, Ms Stewart, Ms Tripp, and Ms Sirec had to make some difficult decisions, and commented on the excellent quality and standard of the 23 entries.   

 

 

The six winning entries are; 

Alice Ward Y7  - Computer generated ‘Forest and Moon landscape’ inspired by Twilight by Stephenie Meyer 

 

Linda Hoang Y 11 - Hand drawn ‘Sun and Moon’ picture book images from folktales that appeal to all ages and take the reader on a journey of discovery and appreciation.  

 

Hannah Kelly Y12 – Collage of text interwoven from fiction and nonfiction, showing the intersection of knowledge and pleasure literature can bring.  

 

Csilla Dwyer Hinkley Y8 – Painting “Curiouser and curiouser ...” Alice and the pocket watch from Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll    

 

Maya Healy  Y8 – Hand drawn B&W image of a standout, strong character in the book Hollow City by Ransom Riggs   

 

Rufus Ahern Y8 – Computer generated image of the Alexander, spaceship from Illuminae by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman 

 

The winning entries are at the printers and will be published in the next newsletter.  Each winner will receive a certificate of contribution, a $30 Readings book voucher and points for their House.   

 

All students who participated in the Bookmark Challenge will be awarded points to their House for taking part in the competition and for embracing the school values, and by doing so enriching the NHS community.   An email was sent to all students who submitted a bookmark entry advising them of the results, and they can collect their original designs from the Library in term 2.

Get to know Clickview and the eBook and Audiobook collection these holidays

A great time to try the NHS Library e-resources is during the holidays when you have time to browse the fantastic Clickview film and documentary collection and download somegreat books from the ePlatform.   

 

These resources are easily accessed  using your NHS email and Compass password to sign in via the Library website,  or through the Compass Star menu, by scrolling down and choosing Clickview or the Library sign in. 

 

We have developed a Quick Guide to the e-resources, with tips to help you get the best out of the 3000+ Audio and eBooks in the collection.  The guide is attached but you can also be accessed the link on the library webpage in the eBooks frame, or on the myNorthcoteHigh Student Research Skills page, in the tile Books, eBooks & Recreational Reading.
