Learning Updates -

School of Wonder

Welcome to an exciting and busy Term 4

We hope you have enjoyed a restful break and are ready for a fun-filled Term 4! There were many moments of excitement and joy as children reconnected with their friends, peers, Learning Mentors and staff upon their return to the college this term. Children have displayed growth and development of skills learnt over their two-week break.

Foundation, Years 1 and 2 children have taken the brave and confident step of scheduling Wonder Play at the same time. Children have been focusing on communicating and collaborating with others outside of their class and year level, utilising various spaces in the building and exploring different ways to share their thinking. There have been some incredible creations, designs, stories and constructions shared, as well as collaboration in board games, drawing and group projects.

Year 3 children have continued their modelling of leadership and demonstration of the traits it takes to be a successful learner. Children have been the learner and the teacher as they develop their digital technology skills using Keynote. Children have begun to look into animations and special effects, and worked together to teach others their new learnings. This will continue over the term.

The calendar is filling fast! We have a lot to look forward to this term, including ‘Wheels Wednesdays’ and the Christmas community picnic concert. Children will be engaged in many exciting learning activities and continue to develop their learner assets in many different ways. We look forward to celebrating our learning as the term progresses.

In Term 3, Year 3 children had the opportunity to participate in the 2022 Wombat Short Story and Poetry Awards. The theme for the Wombat Awards was 'A Bush Yarn.'  We would like to congratulate Isabella Lahm on her entry titled 'Bush Yarn' which has been awarded second prize in the poem category. Bella has won $75 plus $75 donated to the school library.

Sophie Haeusler was highly commended in the poem category for her poem, 'The River', as were Alice Van Maanenberg and Luca Adornato for their poem titled 'Haiku Poem' and they will receive a highly commended award certificate.

All poems were judged by children's author Meredith Costain who is the author of  the popular book series, 'Ella Diaries' . The girls are all invited to a Zoom session with all the other prize-winners and Meredith Constain will give her report.

We would like to sincerely congratulate all children who submitted their poems to the competition - they were all amazing.
