Sports Day Reflections from M3

On a sunny spring day in Week 1, Magill School held their annual Sports Day. There were a few hiccoughs along the way with postponements at the end of Term 3, but all the waiting paid off as the weather turned on a beautiful day. Children arrived draped in their team colours, and for the first time since 2019 families and friends graced our ovals to join in the fun. The students of M3 were asked to reflect on the day and here are some of their responses:

My favourite ultimate highlight was the water relay where you have to pour water into the cone and block the holes from water coming out. (Noah)

My favourite thing about sports day is the water relay because it was very fun and I was able to do it with my little sister, Ava. (Olivia)

My favourite sports day activity was hurdles and the water relay. (Joel)

My favourite thing about sports day was the water relay because it was hot on sports day so we got wet by the water relay. It was refreshing. I did my best when singing the Fergie chant! (Zaynah)

The best thing ever on Sports day is the teacher relay. It's really funny and I hope it happens next year. The best thing I did on sports day was a 4 way tug of war, because I beat against a kid who was higher year level than me. (Brady)

My favourite thing about sport day is the baton relay and long distance, and everyone being a good sport. (Amogh)

The ultimate highlight was when we (Penfold) won most of the afternoon events, which include: Hurdles, long distance run and baton relay. (James)

It was so kind that everyone cheered on their teams and weren't rude to the other teams. It was so quiet and at once Tolmer shouted “LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO!” as it was announced that they won. (Hadi)

My favourite thing about sports day was the long distance run of 1 lap around the oval because I love running long distances. My ultimate highlight was MURRAY coming 2nd because last year we came last. (Scarlett)

My favourite things were hurdles and long run because I tried my best and I was giving it a go! (Ella)

My favourite things about Sports Day was scooter boards because we could push them and it was soooo fun. (Charlotte O)

My ultimate FAVOURITE thing was when we did the hurdles. I thought I couldn’t do it but then Harrison told me that I could do it. (Jarrah)

What I think I did best was listening to the teachers and team leaders, and I also encouraged my team to have persistence. (Yoon)

Back in class the M3 students were tasked with using Google Drawings to design a team banner for 2023. They needed to theme the colours to match their team, include the team name and part of the 2022 chant, and insert a mascot of some kind. This was the first time students had used the software and they caught on as quick as a water relay racer to all the tricks and tools.
