Music Performance Evening

Last week many families and members of the community experienced a magnificent showcase of musical performances during our music performance evening. The evening opened with piano performances by Year 7 Adam Du playing a Mozart Sonata and Chopin Nocturne. Adam was followed by performances from Mr Patrick Dempsey on Cello, the Scoresby Secondary College Choir, solo performances by Heath Agar, Ayla Richardson and Amy Mitcham, band performances by Josh and the J Walkers and the VET ensemble.  Congratulations to Mr Chris Schurmann, Ms Corina Toon and Ms Amber Ferraro our music staff who organised the evening and all who attended to support our performers.

Happenings in the Food Technology Room

This term has seen the Year 7 students begin their food journey in the Food Technology area, and so far we have looked at Safety and Hygiene, Equipment and Measuring and introduced students to the Design Process. In the practical area (production work), students have been learning how to use different pieces of equipment to produce some terrific results.

Years 9 and 10 have been working hard looking at the properties of food and why we have such stringent laws regarding the safe handling, processing, and production of food in Australia.

Year 9 students successfully (and in most cases confidently) undertook the Egg White Challenge and will start investigating foods from a country of their choice during Term 4.  Year 10 students will focus on the important area of Nutrition which forms a valuable area of learning for their future health.

Our Year 11 students have been investigating different food cultures, the growth of agriculture and trade and how industrialisation has impacted food production.

To our Year 12 students, all the very best to you over the holidays as you prepare for the end of year exams. You have got this!
