2022 Swimming Carnival
Clare Robertson
Extra-Curricular Sports Coordinator
After a couple of attempts at getting this event off the ground, we were fortunate to hold the St Mary’s Swimming Carnival on Wednesday 5th October in Term 4. It was a fantastic way for our House Leaders to demonstrate one last act of leadership, and they did a fantastic job of maximising participation numbers, building house spirit and leading their house in the war cries. I would like to thank the Year 12s and House Leaders for their efforts on the day.
The day saw fierce competition from our students, both in the competitive events and the brand new novelty events. From the hotly contested SMCC Gift Race, to the bellyflop competition and the 50m butterfly, the Carnival had something for everyone, and participation rates were a record high. Thank you to all students who attended. Congratulations to Emma Pullar for winning the SMCC Gift Race.
Congratulations to HEAVEY house, who took home the overall House Championship, pipping Murray at the post with the relays! I would like to thank all staff who assisted on the day, particularly Mrs Kyia Tillett and Miss Leah McBryde, for their tireless behind-the-scenes preparation for the day.
