HAPPY HOLIDAYS

It's always wonderful to see the excitement on a student's face when I announce extra books can be borrowed for the holidays. Kindergarten are particularly priceless when they find out they can borrow from all the information shelves. Happy days for all!

Just don't forget to bring them all back.

2022 NSW PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE (PRC)

Holidays are a great time to catch up on some reading. Just jot he books down on a slip or email me the books your child has read towards the end of the holidays and I will add these to their log.

Log into the PRC website - If you would like to browse the website here is the address https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html

If you would like to enter your child's books online, email or send a message with your child and I will provide you with the details.

Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 students should have their reading log in their library bag every week. Please write the green dot borrowed books on the reading log.

Thank you

"There is nothing unhealthy about books.

Sure, you need some sun and some exercise to remain healthy, but reading can also work wonders. According to the charity, The Reading Agency, learning to read for fun when you are young can have more of an impact on how your life goes than whether you grow up in a rich family or a poor family."

An interesting concept in our material possessions-driven world.

ALL WE NEED IS BOOKS... and you don't have to own them,

that's why we have libraries.

CHOICE = Motivation

"The strongest positive impact on reading engagement and learning gains come from student self-selection of reading materials. When reading materials are selected for students the links to engagement and learning gain decline significantly."

When students visit the library a huge emphasis is placed on the

premise that they have

 CHOICE

in what they can read and borrow.

LIBRARY BAGS -  ALL students require a bag.

All students, K - 6 must have a library bag. This is listed as a requirement on the student equipment list each year.

LOTS and LOTS of NEW BOOKS to be borrowed with a LIBRARY BAG.

LIBRARY BAGS MATTER...  Not just some of the time but all of the time.

No food or drink on my books.

Food and drink are for the chooks.

Library bags keep ‘em clean.

Books are cool don’t treat ‘em mean.

Bring your bag every time.

Fill it up and get in line.

Have it scanned and scoot on out.

LIBRARY BAGS

We all shout.
