SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

With many children unwell this week, MSP Photography will be coming back to St Nicholas School for a catch up photo day on Monday, 25 July 2022.  As MSP have very kindly agreed to come back there will be a small delay in receiving products ordered. More information to come in Term 3.

SEMESTER ONE REPORTS

The Semester One Reports have been uploaded to Compass. There are not any comments on the reports this semester, as what would have been written in the comments, was covered in the Student Led Learning Conferences. If you are not registered for Compass, please contact our office staff for your login details.

ARMIDALE DIOCESAN STAGE 3 DEBATING COMPETITION

This week our 2 debating teams competed in their second round of the tournament. The topic for these debates was "That tests and exams in schools should be abolished."

 

Mia Scott, Eve Simpson, Bronte Rankmore and Toby Errington were the affirmative team and debated against St Xavier's Primary School, Gunnedah. 

 

Lyla Davidson, Ruby Cook, Callum Anderson and Neeve Sheridan were the negative team and debated against Holy Trinity, Inverell. 

 

Both teams put a lot of effort into their preparations and both came away with a win! Congratulations to both teams on their outstanding efforts! 

NAIDOC WEEK 2022- Term 3 Week 1

Next term we will be celebrating NAIDOC Week in Week 1. This years theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! Mr French has been busy organising a variety of activities for students, beginning with a whole school assembly on Tuesday 19th July. We would like to invite our parents and carers to attend our assembly and celebrate with us at 10am in the Holy Family Courtyard. Tuesday (19th) will also be a mufti day for students and they may dress in red, yellow, black, blue, green and white.

GRANDPARENTS DAY

One of the happiest and biggest days on our school calendar! Grandparents Day will be celebrated on Friday 22nd July (Week 1 Term 3). We would love to invite all of our Nans, Pops, Grans and Grandpas to come along and join us on this special day where we have the opportunity to celebrate and give thanks to God for these special people in our lives. Beginning with a Liturgy at 9.30am at St Nicholas School, followed by a classroom visit and concluding with a shared picnic out on our oval (weather permitting).

SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS

All parents need to be aware, our supervision of students

does not begin until 8.15am each day.

If your child/ren require care before 8.15am you have access to before school care here at school with Esteem  Please organise alternative care for your child if your child requires supervision before 8.15am. 

 

With before school care available to parents and with a duty of care to staff and students, St Nicholas School gates will not be open until the arrival of the first school bus at approximately 8.10am. It is not appropriate for children to be at school before this time with no supervision.

YEAR 5 LAKE BURRENDONG EXCURSION

WEDNESDAY 9 NOVEMBER TO FRIDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2022

Our Year 5 students and staff will be travelling to Lake Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre (in Central NSW) for their annual excursion.

2022 Competitions & Assessments for Schools (ICAS) - Years 4, 5 and 6 students only

This year our Year 4, 5 and 6 students from St Nicholas School have the opportunity to sit for the ICAS Exams.  ICAS is the largest independent competition and assessment program for schools in Australia.  Each student receives an individual report as well as a certificate of acknowledgment for participation.  These certificates make valuable additions to student portfolios.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE NOT COMPULSORY AND YOU MAY WISH TO DO AS MANY AS YOU WISH OR NONE AT ALL.  EXAMS WILL BE ONLINE AND CONDUCTED IN EXAM CONDITIONS AT SCHOOL.  You will be informed of exact sitting dates once scheduled.

 

Parents/Carers must go online to the ICAS Parent Portal to register and make payment for the exams your child wishes to complete.
