Study Slam

Study Slam is a teacher supported program where you can seek help with outstanding school work and/or personal study. It helps strengthen your revision skills and can provide a safe, focused environment for study.

Study Slam is open to any student, across all year levels and takes place in the Senior Study Centre. It runs from 3:30pm to 4:30pm Monday to Friday every week.

 

JMC Songwriting Competition

Calling all songwriters!

JMC Academy invites participants (in Year 9-12) to submit a demo of an original song (that you've written individually or as a team) and the lyrics to the song in written form (i.e. your lyrics written out in a word document).

The demo can simply be recorded on your phone (they just want to hear the song performed!) and only include the vocals however instrumental accompaniment is encouraged. You're welcome to record the demo in other ways too if you have the means.**

So what needs to be submitted?

Demo of the original song in WAV or MP3 format (maximum 5 minutes in length)

Completed submission form

Now that you know what the competition is all about, here's the amazing prizes for the winner valued at over $2,500:

Professional feedback consultation and recording, mixing and mastering session of your original song with JMC ACADEMY audio engineers in our recording studio*

*You can record this individually as a singer/songwriter or with your band (up to 5-pieces).

A 2-4 hour music workshop for your class at your school or at JMC Academy.

JMC Mix Tapes Competition

 Not a songwriter? How about a mixer?!

JMC Academy is super proud to announce our first ever remix competition. The aim of this competition is to encourage high school students (in year 9-12) who have a keen interest in audio and music production to further develop their skills and to push the boundaries on creativity. Students have the opportunity to remix, reinterpret, and rework the original upcoming single, "Hard Truth" by JMC Academy alumni band, Patient Lounge.

FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE FOUR STEPS:

1.Download the folder containing the audio stems and track https://www.jmcacademy.edu.au/mixtapes-comp/

2. Create your remix!

3. Export it as a stereo .wav file and upload it via the submission form. Make sure you clearly label your name using the correct format (see tech.)

4. Complete the submission form.

JMC Canvas Art Awards

Calling all artists!

JMC is excited to re-launch the Canvas Award Art Competition for 2022, showcasing the incredible work of young artists and designers who are taking creativity to the next level.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

If you are a high school student (all year levels!) with a knack for drawing, painting or using creative digital mediums, JMC invite you to creatively interpret the quote below into an illustrated scene: "Imagination should be used, not to escape reality but to create it" Colin Wilson. How you interpret the quote is entirely up to you, however you must include a "YELLOW UMBRELLA" somewhere in your scene.

WHAT CAN I SUBMIT?

All artists are unique in their abilities, to reflect that we are opening the competition to various mediums. You can submit:

Analogue Artwork

Digital 2D Artwork

3D Artwork

Comic Strip

Interactive Novel

Storyboard

Any combination of the above

HOW LONG DO I HAVE?

Submissions for the 2022 Canvas Art Award close on 17th July 2022.

WHO CAN JOIN THE COMPETITION?

The Canvas Award competition is open to all Australian states and territory based high school students

Work must be completed over the past year (from January 1st, 2021)

WHAT NOT TO SUBMIT

Work based on other artists' ideas or images, this is your time to show us YOUR ideas!

Images that are offensive or divisive

Work completed by a group (this is an individual competition)

Entries close 23:50 AEDT - 17th JULY 2022

Speaking Skills Workshops

This is a call for expressions of interest from any student who would like to participate in a series of workshops in Term 3 to further improve their speaking skills.

We are fortunate enough to have an experienced and knowledgeable person from within our local community wishing to work with a group of students who are keen to hone their speaking skills. Students from all year levels are welcome.
