Principal's Report

Principal's Report
Dear parents,
I would like to thank everybody for their continual effort and ongoing support this term. We have been presented with many challenges including staff shortages and changes to routine, but despite these challenges we have continued the great teaching and learning Girraween PS has grown to expect. This achievement in student progress has been reflected in the student progress reports sent home this week.
It was wonderful to see so many parents attend the parent-teacher interviews to discuss their child's learning. In semester 2 we look forward to welcoming parents back on site to celebrate student learning, beginning in week 1 with assemblies recommencing face to face each Friday.
This year, NAIDOC Week celebrations will be held from 3-10 July 2022 around the country.
The theme ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’ encourages all of us to champion change, while celebrating those who have already driven and led change in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities over generations.
In week 3, term 3 we will celebrate Education Week. The theme for Education Week 2021 is ‘Creating futures – education changes lives’. We will be inviting parents to visit classrooms and tour a student art display in the hall.
Many thanks to our wonderful P&C for organising a weekend 'Working Bee'. Many parents and community members gave their time to prepare our gardens and school grounds for the spring planting season! It will be sure to brighten our school grounds.
I wish everybody a safe, relaxing holiday break. Spend some time with family and friends, recharge and be ready for another great term of learning when students return on Tuesday 19 July.
