Information Evening for families of Year 6 Students

6.30pm - 7.30pm

Come along and meet our Principal and talk to staff about why Bruce McLaren Intermediate School should be your school of choice for 2023.

Meet in the school hall at 6.30 pm.

Light refreshments will be provided.

The 40-hour famine is happening from 1 to 3 of July this year! If your child wants to take part, they can sign up and collect a sponsorship booklet from Miss Westerhof in Room 5.

This year, the focus is on providing safe drinking water to children all over the world. Did you know that today, 800 children died because they didn’t have clean water? And another 800 children are at risk of dying. Every. Single. Day.

Right now, we can bring life-saving water to children in the world’s toughest places - and we can give their communities the tools to keep clean water flowing for years to come.

I wanted to let you know about some family-friendly activities for Matariki that your school community may wish to check out at Te Puna (Falls car park), 14 Edmonton Rd, Henderson.

Eke Panuku is supporting the council’s Matariki Festival with several family-oriented events in Henderson; from a Korowai and poi pop-up shop at Te Puna (Falls car park) to stories by kuia and kaumatua sharing their mātauranga (knowledge) and a giant dance floor with the popular Road Cone Wonderland. When we put down road cones it’s usually because we’re starting some new mahi but this is an art installation with battery-driven lights to create a low-resolution screen like a disco dancefloor. A little bit of humour and fun with road cones.

Traditionally, Matariki is a period of solemn reflection, followed by a celebration of the present and a looking ahead to the future. We're extremely grateful to mana whenua for their guidance in how we approach this important and special time of the year.
