Endeavour House News

Music, Drama and Sport

Firstly, I must add a belated well done to Madi Smart and Lily Quick who both performed in the Kingfisher Concert last term. Well done, girls.  Chelsea Evans , Dannielle Frost  and Chenae Wreford are committed to rehearsing hard for next year’s production of Aida. We look forward to watching you next year. Many of our Year Seven and Eight girls are playing basketball and tennis, with two girls learning Muay Thai. It’s good to see them all being physically active.

Recreation

As I mention in every Boarding Buzz, I don’t like the idea of our boarders sitting around all weekend on their devices, and sometimes the recreation on offer is not their thing. So, this term we have trialled more in-house activities. Don’t be concerned, I will still be pushing them out the door to do the recreation activities on offer! This term, we introduced Crafternoon with Mrs Ball (when I am on duty every second Sunday afternoon from 3.00pm). The first craft we attempted was tie-dying, soap-making is next and, finally, some Christmas craft. The tie-dying was a hit and we all enjoyed the process and the product.

Halloween

Every Boarding House has a turn at prepping an event, and Halloween belongs to Endeavour House. This year, we decided to try a Halloween Hunt, with the winning team’s House receiving a pizza night at the Kalgan Café across the road. There was a prize for the best-dressed team and everyone got right into the spirit of Halloween.

Year Nine Girls' High Tea

Our Year Nine girls enjoyed dressing up and attending the annual Girls' High Tea at the Middleton Beach Surf Club with their mum or female person of importance. Thank you to Miss Bermudez who helped with the set-up of the function and attended, most excitedly, with Zaydee Kiagoes.

Birthdays

Lysbeth Cunningham celebrated her birthday this term with a weekend at home with her family. Milly Wisewould's birthday was on the first weekend back in boarding and she also spent it with her family. Georgia Patterson managed to plan her birthday to fall on the Closed Weekend.

We wish a very happy birthday to those remaining birthdays this year; Charlie Ritchie on 21 December and Leonie Ozies on 29 December.

Staffing

Mrs Spinks is on shift every second Saturday and is interested in teaching our girls to sew, crochet or knit, while Miss Bermudez has continued with her workout session which is now on a Tuesday afternoon in the recreation shed.

2020 Boarding

We wish the Year Eight and Nine girls a fond farewell as they move on to Michaelmas and Breaksea Houses in 2020. We will miss having you in Endeavour House. Our 14 current Year Seven students stay on for Year Eight, and we welcome four new Year Eight and seven new Year Seven girls to Endeavour House in 2020.  I thank you all for your support in my first year of boarding and allowing me to learn to be a House mum with your gorgeous girls.

Year Seven Reflections

We asked all of the Year Seven girls to write a paragraph about their first year of boarding. Here are two of them. If I haven’t emailed your child’s writing to you, please let me know and I will forward it.

"My first year of boarding was pretty good and we did lots. I loved the rec options and like being able to walk around the ovals and hang out with friends. The food is really nice and Chef Nick is friendly. The house parents are really nice and good to talk to when you need a chat. Being close to all my friends has been really good and there is always lots to do."

"Boarding this year has been good. In Term One I didn’t really like boarding and wanted to go home all the time. Now I like boarding and I’ve made more friends at boarding and at school. What I like about boarding is getting to stay with my friends and seeing them every day and going on rec to the beach. One of the things I don’t like about boarding is having so many rules to follow."

Endeavour Leaders

I would like to thank Jasmine Bradshaw and Madison Smart for being amazing Endeavour House leaders for the year. They have been a great help to me. We will announce our Endeavour leaders for 2020 at the commencement of the new year.

Best Wishes

The Endeavour Team wish you all a merry and safe Christmas and look forward to seeing you in 2020.
