A message from Emily

Our children delight AND challenge us in so many ways. As our energy levels are running lower and the busyness of the year increases, I wanted to share this beautifully simple model based from the folks at Circle of Security (https://www.circleofsecurityinternational.com/)

You may have seen this model when your kids were toddlers, in the original format. We learn to allow our toddlers to explore the world around them, and we are safely watching by, ready for them to return when they need reassurance, praise or comfort. Each time, the circle grows wider! So, parents of older children and pre-teens, this pattern continues. We keep on watching in various ways and we are ready for the child to return to a secure base. That base (us!) provides unconditional listening, sustenance, and emotional safety. We are their rocks, even though they don’t always know it.
