Curriculum
Wow, can you believe it is Week 8 already?! Thank you to all the parents who helped out at the Pleasant Bazaar on the weekend, and congratulations to those who ran their own stall!
In Writing last week, we finished up our explanation texts. Students completed an explanation about ‘The Life Cycle of a Butterfly’ or ‘How does Lightning Occur?’. Look out for these one Seesaw over the coming days. This week in Writing we are beginning to look at procedural texts. As students look at the structure and language of these texts, it might be a good idea to discuss different procedures that students could choose to write about next week!
In Reading, we are continuing to look at the features of non-fiction texts and how we can use them to find information. We will also be looking at the difference between facts and opinions to help us become more critical readers. In Maths, we are completing data collection and representation. Students will conduct an experiment or survey to collate their data, then choose the best way for the data to be represented.
In Guided Inquiry, we are continuing to create sets, props, and characters for our stop-motion videos. In preparation for these, students may wish to bring materials from home to aid in their construction. Many students have also been making their own stop motion videos to become more skilled in the app. While this is not a requirement - it has been great to share the videos that students have been making at home.
Thank you and have a great week!
