Leadership Centre

Curriculum
We may be counting down until the end of term but we certainly are not slowing down in the Leadership Centre! Students have continued to apply themselves to their learning with persistence and enthusiasm.
A major highlight of the week was the opening of our Earn and Learn marketplace. Students planned and prepared with their business associates and on Friday, we finally opened for trading. This project mimics a real life marketplace and students are required to record their spending, pay their tax, track their income, identify which insurance policies will meet their needs and reflect on how they can maximise their business. It has been fantastic to see students engage with this rich learning experience.
In Reading, we have launched our final Book Club for the year. Each group has a novel to read over four weeks and in our small group discussions, we will be unpacking key quotes, analysing themes and critiquing the author’s purpose. Our focus in Reading is to combine our skills of inferring and reorganisation to discuss themes in more depth. We are utilising prompting questions such as “what makes you say that?” to challenge and extend our thinking. In Writing, we have been focusing on non-fiction texts and spent some time editing and refining our Information Reports ready to be uploaded on Seesaw.
For our Year 6 students, graduation rehearsals are about to begin! Over the next few days, students will receive and learn the songs for our presentation night. Please encourage them to learn these at home to maximise our time rehearsing together. This is such an exciting time for students as they celebrate their many achievements throughout primary school.
We are looking forward to another fantastic week!
