Reflections of 2019

What a great school year! We had lots of highs, some lows and everything in between. I

think back to some highlights and achievements of this year:

  • We welcomed a number of new teachers(Tali, Jess, Steve and Darren)
  • Our focus this year has been on Writing and Wellbeing. We are seeing
  • improvements in both academic and surveys in these areas.
  • Stop Walk Talk was introduced
  • TPS won the Department of Education Award for Excellence in Koorie Education.
  • We built and opened the new shade sail area complete with an Indigenous Garden
  • Designed and launched the new “Deadly Hoodie”
  • And so much more…

We also celebrated the life of Uncle Phil Cooper who was a staff member, parent and

community member at TPS. It was a touching moment for me to have the Cooper family to

plant a tree in his honour at the front of our school.

I would like to wish our Year 6 students the very best as they move to secondary school in

2020.

To those families and students who leave us at the end of 2019, I wish you all the very best

for the future. Thank you for being a part of our school community.

I am proud to have served as Principal at Thornbury Primary School this year. Being a

Principal is not an easy job and we can’t make everyone happy all the time.

I cannot do this job without the wonderful support of my Assistant Principal Megan Noy,

School Council and an amazing staff who a range of talents and abilities but also passion for the children here at TPS.

I would also like to thank the support of the School Community. Many times I have been

encouraged by your words and felt greatly supported.

The work is not done yet. 2020 will be a year to continually improve, adjust and provide the best for the children in our care.

I wish you all a great Christmas and a safe relaxing holiday. See you in 2020

Kii TPS Family

What a tremendous year it has been! Not quite sure where to start……

Thank you’s!!

To the TPS teachers and leadership team, many thanks for inspiring our kids, taking them under your wings and opening many new doors to their knowledge. The work you do has no monetary value, it’s value is life changing and you do it day in, day out. Ngoon godgin! Enjoy a well deserved break.

To our community, many thanks for picking up the pieces in the many different sections that a public school needs support in to keep things tick tockin'! The many helping hands helps us grow and improves our school for all, now and future students. TPS can always do better with many hands helping, find your little niche project, donate 1 hour here or there to better help all who come to TPS.

I would also like to thank our councillors members; Shara, Tali, Lee, Renee, Lucy, Megan, Bridgid, Leon for the time you have given to help make decisions, talk through ideas, investigate possibilities and respectfully represent our community. 2020 will see 3 parent positions become available for 2020 council, whilst relaxing during the summer holidays have a think about whether you would like to nominate for one of those positions in Feb next year. If you would like more info, feel free to make contact on the email below.

We as TPS should be very proud of this year, we have completed some long term projects at the school and been recognised by many external bodies for the work we have done and community we have grown at TPS. I’m looking forward to the new projects for 2020!

To finish off, I just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to represent you as your Pres for the past 3 years, as my term comes to an end in Feb I’ll be stepping down.  It’s been a great learning experience and a pleasure to help TPS in a new and different way!

Ngoon godgin to you all & have burndap holiday!
