Multicultural Day 2020

Thursday March 12th

…4 weeks to go!

One of the activities that FWPS students carry out during the preparation of Multicultural Day is an interview to their families to find out a bit more about their background.

Any member of their family can be interviewed, especially Grandparents.      We know that some of our grandparents may have already passed away and that thought can make us sad, but knowing their story is very important for us and it will help us to keep alive their memory and possibly to continue their dream.

Some of the questions we could ask our family are:

  • Where did our family ancestors come from?
  • Where were you born?
  • Did you live or travel in other countries ?
  • What is/was your profession?
  • Can you speak other languages? Can you teach me some words?
  • What are the traditional clothes of your culture?
  • What is the traditional food of your culture?
  • What kind of music did you like to listen and dance ?
  • What is a culture that you have been curious to know about?

These are our students attempts to investigate their origins, so that our bond with our family adventures stays strong and our sense of ‘being Australians’ grows with the respect for all the cultures which helped modern Australia to be one of the most diverse and culturally rich countries in the world.

Thank you for your collaboration, please stay tuned for the next newsletter. We need all your help to make the day another memorable one in our school history.
