Principal's News

Where every child is known, challenged and supported to be lifelong learners.

Dear Parents and Friends,

It is surprising to me that we already find ourselves almost at the midpoint of the 2023 school year!  We have only 2 weeks left this term and our school is a busy and exciting place to be.

During this term our students have been looking at Science in their Inquiry topic. Our school is a hive of industry and learning as students and teachers from across the school work to understand more about Science.

In every classroom, students are designing, making and testing all sorts of things as they explore scientific properties such as physical and chemical changes.

If you have the opportunity, you are welcome to come into the classrooms and see the great work that our students are completing. Or check out our Facebook and Instagram pages to see the students at work and play.

BODY AWARENESS/SEX EDUCATION

Thank you to all parents who responded to the survey put out last week regarding a proposed parent/child session exploring Body Awareness /Sex Education.

We had an overwhelmingly positive response to this survey which is fantastic. We had 94 responses - with 80% saying yes and 20% saying No.

The presenter I have in mind is Kelly Nash who comes highly recommended. We are now in the process of organising a date for Term 3 or Term 4.  Further information to follow.

SACRAMENTAL EVENING

Thank you to all our Year 3 parents who attended our Sacramental Information Night on Tuesday night. This night is to give parents an understanding of what the Sacraments are, what they mean in the child’s faith journey and how you as parents can support them on this journey.  I am sorry I was not able to attend, but Jodie said we had a only 8 families attend out of a possible 19 which is a bit disappointing. There were lots of conversations coming from the activities that had been prepared by the FDT team. Thank you to Suzie Ripp and Arch Cochrane for supporting Jodie in my absence.

MORDIALLOC PRESCHOOL VISIT

Yesterday and today our Year 5 students were visited by the Mordialloc Pre-School. “Yellow” group came on Wednesday and 9 of our Year 5 students spent time with the children in the library reading them stories and Mrs Marziano read a lovely story to the children to start the session off.

Today, the “Orange” group came down to visit and with the other 9 Year 5 students created a lovely butterfly as an art activity. Next term the activities will swap over for the Preschool children and our Year 5’s will go down and visit the groups at the Pre-School.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART MASS - 16th JUNE

Next Friday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass. We will be collecting any food donations to help support the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.  On Thursday 15th June we will be having a Casual Clothes Day - bring a donation and come to school in your casual clothes. The St Vinnies Storeroom at St Brigid's Church is almost empty.  Any donations will be gratefully accepted - tinned goods especially tuna, tea, coffee, breakfast cereal, personal hygiene products (toothpaste, shampoo, soap, deodorant), pasta, sauce etc.  Please make sure that all donations  are within the useby date. We look forward to the office being filled with donations.

ENROLMENTS 2024

It is great to have the enrolment applications coming in.  We are busy making offers and look forward to meeting with each new and current family for 2024 early next term. We thank everyone who has attended our school tours and for considering St Brigid’s as the educational setting for their child and for them as a family. Please know that all enquiries regarding enrolments are always welcome. Please contact the school office on 9580 4518 if you would like to arrange a school tour.
