Outside School Hours Care & Vacation Care

Hi Clovelly Park families! It’s Jordan, the Acting Director of OSHC, with a quick update about what’s been happening in our service recently. During the April school holidays, we ran our Vacation Care program with a wide variety of activities from many different areas of interest. Students engaged in sport, art, music, science, cooking and more. We averaged almost 20 attendees per day, about a 50% increase in attendance compared to the December and January Vacation Care period. Feedback from parents and students was that the activities were engaging and enjoyable, and they can’t wait for the next Vacation Program to come around! It was a very successful fortnight, we hope to generate even more excitement for the next one in July. We are open to suggestions for activities to be included in our July program. We are so excited we have already started our planning!

Following the success of our April Vacation Care period, we have also seen significant growth in our Before and After School sessions starting from the beginning of Term 2. Our After School Care attendance has also increased by around 50% since the start of the year. In Week 4 of Term 2, we achieved our highest single session attendance numbers in the year that I’ve been working at our OSHC which we replicated again later in the week. Week 4 had our highest average attendance for a week, and it is exciting to see this growth. This is largely due to providing a range of fun and engaging activities, having nutritional and healthy meals for afternoon snack and staff building strong relationships with the students who attend.

We are almost ready to start implementing some more significantly themed activities in our Before School Care sessions.  The activities will be structured similarly to the April Vacation Care program with a focus on a specific activity for most of the morning session. These activities will be diverse so all attending students will have the chance to participate in their areas of interest. Ideas include sports challenges, music, board games, card games, art and craft and many more. Feel free to suggest any ideas that you may have.
