In Our Prayers

We pray for any in our community suffering in seen and unseen ways.

May our loving God, with Mary and Champagnat, walk with all members of the Marist family. Amen.

Reflection

Blessing of Mother and Son

May an abundance of gratitude burst forth
as you reflect upon what you have received.
May thanksgiving overflow in your heart,
and often be proclaimed in your prayer.
May you gather around the table of your heart,
the ardent faithfulness, kindness and goodness
of each person who is true to you.
May the harvest of your good actions
bring forth plentiful fruit each day.
May you discover a cache of hidden wisdom,
among the people and events
that have brought you distress and sorrow.
May your basket of blessings surprise you,
with its rich diversity of gifts and its opportunities for growth.
May all that nourishes and resources your life
bring you daily satisfaction and renewed hope.
May you slow your hurried pace of life
so you can be aware of and enjoy
what you too easily take for granted.
May you always be open, willing and ready
to share your blessings with others.
May you never forget the Generous God
who loves you lavishly and unconditionally.

Mother’s Day Mother Son Eucharist

We gathered in the Tower courtyard to begin our celebration then as a community walked the Gospel to our Chapel for the Eucharistic Prayer. The way was lit by our Senior boarders and the wonderful women present. The light a symbol of Christ in the world.

We paid tribute to all women, who play a significant role in our lives, in the lives of children, family and church. Whether living or dead present or absent, a woman as mother profoundly shapes the life of her children. We acknowledged Mary as the Mother of God, and the first Disciple of Jesus. Those boys present were invited to write a card of gratitude to their Mums. The Mass was a meaningful way to celebrate and we thank all who attended.

Green Ash

Our insistence that each human being is an image of God should not make us overlook the fact that each creature has its own purpose. None is superfluous. The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains: everything is, as it were, a caress of God. (#84 Laudato Si).

Our Green Ash crew meet Wednesday and Thursday mornings throughout Term 2 and 3. Working in and learning about the environment around our College this group has over a number of years cleaned up and maintained the creek bed. Green Ash is part of the MATES program. For further information check out the morning notices or see Mrs Williams who generously runs the program.

Game Changers

Game Changers is a comprehensive Catholic youth ministry program for students in Marist Schools from Years 7-12. It is designed to be an ongoing leadership and mentoring program for Marist students.

It seeks to form Christian leaders by making Jesus Christ known and loved among them – the Mission of the Marist Institute and of this College.

It involves regular meetings; faith formation experiences and service opportunities and students are invited to become game changers through their participation in the group.

Game Changers is grounded in a series of tracks, each with its own stories, symbols and activities.

Through their participation in each track, the students come to a deeper appreciation of what and who shapes our Christian identity and Marist spirituality.

Each track is led by a Mentor (member of staff). Each track lasts two years.

Groups will meet regularly during Break times beginning Term 2.

Years 7 and 8 Monday first break in Room 801

Years 9 and 10 Wednesday first break in Room 801

Years 11 and 12 Thursday first break in Room 801

To register for Game Changers, or for more information, please email Ms Rebecca Wong  (wongb@marash.qld.edu.au) or come and visit anyone in the Mission Team area behind the Chapel.
