Abstract Impressionism - Stage 2
Stage 2 has been exploring an art movement called Abstract Impressionism. In particular Stage 2 looked at works by Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning who were artists who created this style in New York in the 1940s and 1950s. Most people will have heard of a painting titled Blue Poles, by Jackson Pollock which is housed at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. The goal of abstract impressionism is to create 'an impression' of something. Stage 2 used tissue paper and layered it to create the impression of a sunset scene.
