 Breaking News...Just In!!!

The Next Fortnight of Learning

Literacy

We will continue using the mentor text, 'The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore' by William Joyce. If you would like to check this out at home, you can view it by clicking HERE.

We will continue to dive into narratives; how authors introduce their characters, develop storylines and engage the reader through sizzling starts. We will also be using the 'Somebody Wanted But So Then' approach to planning our narratives. Writing stamina is a big focus in the coming weeks, as we explore the writing process and structure of a narrative looking at engaging our audience and developing ideas.

Maths

Over the next two weeks we will continue to explore 3D objects; looking at which ones we can name and describe through the features of a variety of 3D objects. We will also be delving into addition and subtraction, exploring efficient strategies to solve equations both mental and written. We will continue to use a growth mindset to approach problem solving lessons where the focus is on the process rather than the answer. Here is a great game we have learnt if you would like to play it at home called Place Value Knockout click HERE to learn how to play.

Inquiry

Stimulating Science is going well so far, and we have been enjoying learning lots of different things. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning about Biology and Earth & Space and look forward to discovering new things about the whacky world of science!!!

Wellbeing

Our Term 2 topic for Resilience Rights and Respectful Relationships is Help Seeking. During Lesson 3 & 4 of Help-Seeking, students will complete tasks to help them identify the people in their lives from whom they can seek help and discuss the types of situations in which they would be best to seek adult assistance such as when someone is sick or hurt, when something unsafe is happening or when the problem feels too big to solve on their own.

Celebration of Learning

On Wednesday 24th May, some of our Grade 2 students participated in National Simultaneous Storytime and read The Speedy Sloth. They then enjoyed working with students from other year levels to complete some fun sloth activities!!

We hope you have a wonderful fortnight. Please contact us if you have any questions!
