Ciao a tutti,
Italian
Ciao a tutti,
Ciao a tutti,
WOW! What amazing ‘Italia’ posters, the Year 5/6 have created!
Year 5 and 6 have been learning about Italia and its geography, cultural icons, and food. This week, students researched and created ‘fantastico’ posters of their chosen landmark and have been sharing some interesting historical information. Did you know that the Pantheon, in Rome, is one of the largest unreinforced concrete domes in the world? It was built almost 2,000 years ago! Students have also been writing a description of their landmark, in Italian. They have been consolidating their knowledge of maps, geography and history.
Year 3 and 4 have been learning about diverse cultural practices and comparing and reflecting on Australia and Italy’s cultural practices. They have been learning about people and places by naming the country, maps, flags as well as completing their portfolio piece this week.
Year 1 and 2 have been learning about cities and landmarks through reading and playing ‘La Macchinetta Rosa” book and game by following this little red car’s adventures racing around Italia. They have learnt to say what some cities are famous for, in Italian. This week Year 1 and 2 created a postcard of ‘Monte Vesuvio’ in Pompeii. They have been consolidating their everyday conversations and extending their knowledge of some new words and phrases.
In Foundation, we have been reading “Ecco Pinocchio”/Here is Pinocchio and learning how to say some parts of the body in Italian. The children enjoyed singing and dancing to the heads, shoulders, knees and toes song, in Italian. We have also had a look at Google Earth and the location of Italy and Australia. Students also leant about numbers through songs and games.
Saluti,
Signora Harrington
