Open Day Concert
We were so delighted to have a huge turn out at the Open Day Concert. Our Start Up Strings consisting of year two students gave their very first public performance. They played so beautifully and precisely. They didn’t show any signs of nerves, and we were very impressed with how well they listened to Margaret Butcher – our strings coordinator. Well done!
Next, it was a treat to hear the Senior Orchestra perform. We have nearly 60 members playing either Violin, Cello, or Double Bass. It’s a huge sound and every student is fully engaged in reading notation, using aural skills and intonation to keep in time with their fellow musicians.
A big thank you to all the Strings Staff for their expertise and nurturing approach.
We are so lucky at Ivanhoe Primary to have such a brilliant program.
Our Plectrum Supply is Low
We are still short on guitar pics. (plectrums). If you have a surplus of pics, I’d appreciate a few donations.
Let’s keep the music flowing.
Thursday, 15th June
12 – 1.40pm in the school hall.
Every class in years five and six prepare a song, and are fully engaged in singing, dancing, and instrumental activities. Students are volunteering their time at recess and lunch to come and rehearse.
I will need support setting up instruments, microphones, amps, chairs, tuning guitars, and organising the sound system.
If you have expertise in this area, have played in bands, and you’re available on Thursday morning, 15th of June from 8am, I will be very grateful for your support.
