Postive Vibes and Sketchnoting

3H Agony Aunts!

Our teachers learnt about positive psychology last week and then began to pass this onto their studens.

Students in 3H have some expert advice to offer you on staying positive..

If you are feeling like you are not positive, then you should try self-talk. If you are feeling like you can’t do something, then say to yourself ‘I can do this’ or ‘you’ve got this’ Then you will feel like you can do anything.
Dr. Pippa

When you are feeling down, a good way to cheer up is by having a positive thought. Your mind-set can really change your actions, so this why you should fill yourself with positive thoughts. A good way to stay positive could be by having a nice affirmation by your bedside table. For example: good thoughts, good actions. If you are having a hard time with something, you could encourage yourself by saying things like ‘I’m amazing’ or ‘keep going’. These things can make you super-dooper positive and will make you enjoy life more.
Dr. Zoe

If you are feeling down or negative, you should always tell someone but if there is nobody to talk to you can talk to yourself. You can do this ‘you cannot give up’ Don’t ever be scared to tell someone that you are feeling sad. Then you could feel like you are unstoppable.
Dr Mila

To be more positive you should say to yourself ‘it is a once in a lifetime you can do this’. You can also watch a mindfulness video.
Dr Luca

If you are feeling down, get up and look to the future. What I mean by that is when you are grouping up too many negative thoughts for example, like I’m so bad at racing, think the opposite of that.

Sketchnoting

This week, Year 5s are using the very popular reading strategy  - ‘Sketchnoting’.

What is ‘sketchnoting’ you ask?

Sketchnoting, also commonly referred to as visual notetaking, is the creative and graphic process through which an individual can record their thoughts with the use of illustrations, symbols, structures, and texts.

Sketchnoting, in its purest form, is creating a personal visual story as one is listening to a speaker or reading a text.

Our first reading lesson involved watching a BTN on ‘Antarctic Animals’. Below are examples of the sketchnotes created.
