Milo's Birthday Surprise - Dress Up Day

In Week 6, we will be celebrating Milo's Birthday! This year, every time we learnt a new sound we have read Milo's Birthday book. Each page has a new sound, and we were introduced to a character that matches the sound.

The very first character we met was Milo when we were learning the sound that /m/ makes. Milo was trying to invite his friends to his birthday party but they are all pretending to be busy. By week 6 of this term, we will have met all of the characters so it is time to throw Milo a party!

On Friday the 2nd of June, we invite our Prep students to choose their favourite character from the book to dress up as. Please try and create a costume from what you already have at home. We ask that the chosen costume represents a character from the story... no Elsa or Bluey costumes this time!

Please look at the picture below with your child for some inspiration:

Thank you

Sand Pit Toys

Thank you to those who sent in donations for sand pit toys in Term 1. The Preps are very excited to be able to borrow these from the Sports Shed now.

Repeat Reminders:

Reading Log Book

With many students now taking decodable reader books home, we thought it was time to do a further explanation of how to best use the 'My Home Reading Book'.

There is very valuable information contained within the reading book, please take a few minutes to look through your childs Home Reading Book.

We will be sending home the above document in your childs Home Reading Book in the coming week.

The use of this book is a vital link of communication between your and your childs teacher.

Jumpers

Now that we have hit the cooler weather period, it is very important that your child's jumper has their name on it. Already we have had multiple missing jumpers and they are impossible to return to their owners without a name.

Umbrellas

Please make sure that your child knows that if they bring an umbrella to school in the morning, that it cannot be used in the playground at lunch or recess.

What we have been up to...

Last week, we were reading the story of The Three Little Pigs in Literacy and Topic. We were very busy! We made play dough, then turned it into pigs. We made boats for our pigs to see if they would float. Next we built houses for the pigs, using straws, sticks and bricks (blocks), to see if the Big Bad Wolf could blow them down!

Now we have experimented with building using foil, paper, play dough, material and wood. This week, our task was to build a bridge using a material that we thought would work best. We have bridges made from foil, sticks, straws and cardboard. We even had some attempts at play dough bridges but unfortunately we learnt that play dough is not strong enough for a bridge!

Tomorrow, we get to test our bridges with our families to see if what we have build is strong enough to hold a goat!
