Music

Hola leyendas,

F1s have been continuing their focus on reading basic rhythmic notes using clapping and percussion instruments. This fortnight we have worked on rhythmic dictation, listening to a specific rhythm and writing down what the students can hear, strengthening their recognition of the difference between crotchets and quavers. They then have been making their own and presenting it to small groups/or the whole class for the group/class to work out.

2/3s are now midway through the music production process using Edu BandLab. They have explored four ways of adding notes and sounds into their compositions including through a Drum Sequencer (aka Drum kit), through adding samples (pre-recording loops built into the program), recording their own sounds using the inbuilt laptop microphones and inputting the notes using a virtual keyboard and recording live. They have further developed skills such as splitting/cutting a recording, copy and pasting certain parts to show song structure and using the dynamic automation to add fade ins and outs to their pieces.

4-6s are deep into the ukulele playing with the students using a combination of teacher instruction, seesaw videos and diagrams to work out the chords, finger numbers and strumming patterns. Many are now also up to reading simple melodies using the TAB and switching between strings, frets and using different picking techniques. The next stage will be the students picking their own songs (with teacher guidance) to perform.

Also a big congratulations to the band's first performance in assembly. They are now working on another classic.
