SPORTS UPDATE

Term 2 has continued to be a fantastic term full of sporting opportunities. Recently we have had the Senior Round Robin Day and Kingston Cross Country competition and it is wonderful to see so many individuals representing our college. Congratulations to all teams and individuals!

We have yet again had spectacular wins in soccer with the Senior Boys and Girls teams both taking out the Kingston competition as champions. This is an amazing effort and both teams will be representing BSC next term.

Some words from the Senior Boys Soccer team:

Senior Boys Soccer

'Brighton continued their dominance in the Kingston division boys soccer with a win in the senior competition. The team oozed class throughout the competition, warming up with a 3-0 win over Sandringham before a dominant 2-0 victory against Beaumaris and a narrow 2-1 win over Parkdale.

The team had all the ball and a host of opportunities in the semi-final against Bentleigh but had to go through via a nail-biting penalty shootout after the match finished 1-1. Kai Burke was the hero, saving 3 penalties. Coach Antosha Kavunovsky couldn't watch as Kaz Davies kept his nerve to slot home the winning penalty, despite playing with a plastic bag wrapped around his arm to keep his cast dry.

The old enemy (McKinnon) were the opponents in the final, where once again the talent of the BSC squad shone through as they dominated throughout and avenged defeat in the 2022 final by winning 1-0, thanks to a peach of a goal by Aston Askew.

The boys will now go on to play in the next round at Kingston Heath in term 3'
