INTERNATIONAL WEEK

Last week we celebrated our annual International Week through a program of events and activities.

Daily quizzes were very popular with prizes issued daily.

Congratulations to all of our winners and to all that entered the quizzes and thank you to Ms Boyd for judging all entries.

Our canteen staff prepared a range of specialty dishes matching the daily theme. Thank you Sue and your team.

On Tuesday we held a novelty event at lunchtime called ‘World Spoon, Fork, Chopsticks Championship’ The event required students to choose their preferred utensil and in 30 seconds, see how many lollies could be transferred from one bowl to another.

In the end, the chopsticks came out in front with Linh Bui being declared the winner. Well done Linh.

On Wednesday, Ms Jessica invited a special guest who is visiting his relatives in Melbourne to our school. Mr Li, at 93 years of age, keeps fit through his interest in flying kites and was willing to demonstrate his enthusiasm during lunchtime. He demonstrated a range of kites, with his ‘Cobra’ kite having a tail of 100 metres. What an amazing sight it was, until unfortunately the tail wrapped itself around surrounding trees and light poles. All good in the end however and I’m sure his enthusiasm spilled over onto all who participated.

Friday there was an International Soccer game on the hockey field, attracting many participants and spectators. Congratulations to our Captains and to Mr Chalk for organising this sporting event to finish off our International Week.

Finally, our SRC promoted our week long Food Drive in support of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). This was our 10th year of support to this organisation, something as a community we should all be proud of. Well done everyone!!

During International Week, the SRC ran a food drive to donate food and other items to the ASRC

This was extremely successful with a huge donation number, and we’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part and helped out this amazing cause!

The results for the house competition are:

1st – Mabo

2nd – Brennan

3rd – Kirby

4th – Goldstein

Congratulations

to Mabo for being the most charitable house and continuing its winning streak!
