MELBOURNE SCIENCE GALLERY

Last Friday the 26th of May, a group of 23 eager students from Years 7-9 travelled to the Melbourne Science Gallery to experience the Gallery’s latest Interactive Tour titled ‘Break the Binaries’.

The tour went into detail about a variety of exhibits created by a diverse range of artistic minds, to challenge concepts such as binary gender identities from a scientific view. There were even gender-diverse bugs!

Everyone had a great time, and expressed how it enabled them to see from new perspectives. A group favourite was the ‘Word of Mouth’ exhibit by Zeth Cameron, which encouraged students to play with a range of vocal outputs.

Ellie Abrahams from Year 9 commented how, “It was fascinating to see creative representations in different forms of our societal binaries and it was such a fun experience to share with our friends. It was eye-opening to see how different exhibits all linked to the ‘Break The Binaries’ exhibition and I loved to see how artists think outside of the box.“
