2023 SMPPS ATHLETICS DAY

We had a wonderful 2023 Athletics Carnival on Tuesday the 30th May! The weather was great, the students were amazing and our community pulled together and made this day a memorable one for all involved.

Today was a true example of our school values of playing as a team, being involved, being leaders, being connected and that learning doesn't just happen in the classroom, these will be the moments that our students will remember beyond their primary years.

This day would not have been a success without everyone getting behind it. It ran like clockwork because everyone at the stadium and back at school helped out. Teachers and ES staff gave up their planning and break times. Ms Arnold got her sneakers on and helped the students at their events. Ms Peach was one of the first at the stadium helping set up. Nathanial and Corey for setting, packing and running events. Ashlea and her SEDA students timing the running events.

We had a special guest, Reece Langdon from the VIS the Australian Champion middle distance runner who came to inspire our students by giving a speech, answering questions, sharing advice and his training routine. The students loved when Reece got involved and ran and did some stretches with them.

A huge shout out goes to our amazing parent community for your expertise and commitment to running the day:

  • Amanda for running the results table and ribbons so smoothly
  • Brent, Dagimaa, and April, on High Jump
  • Mel, Cherag and Michael on Shot Put
  • Leanne and Sonia on Long Jump
  • Todd and Hyunkyumg on Triple Jump
  • Adriana, Katerina and Emily on Discus
  • Joshua Preston on running events and pack up

We really could not have achieved the smiles on students faces without you there.
